What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a focused state of attention where your mind becomes more open to suggestions.

It's like when you're deeply into a book, reel, game or film and you lose track of what's going on around you.

😵‍💫 Things to remember:

  • You’re not asleep.

  • You’re not controlled by someone else.

  • You stay aware of what’s happening.

  • You can choose to accept or ignore suggestions.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis works through a combination of relaxation, focus, and suggestion.

1. Relaxation

  • Your body and mind begin to calm down.

  • Breathing slows, muscles loosen.

  • Relaxation techniques slow down the mental chatter.

2. Focused Attention

  • You pay attention to one thing: a voice, an image, a thought, or a feeling.

  • Distractions fade into the background.

  • Focus narrows, similar to entering a deeply relaxed or meditative state.

3. Increased Suggestibility

  • You become more open to ideas—like “my body feels lighter” or “I can stay calm in stressful moments.”

  • As the conscious mind quiets, the unconscious mind becomes more accessible.

  • Allowing deeper patterns, beliefs, memories, or emotional responses to be explored and re-shaped.

  • You still choose whether to follow suggestions.

4. Return to Normal Awareness

  • You come back feeling relaxed, similar to waking from a daydream.

Myths vs. Facts

“You lose control.” .... You stay in control the whole time

“Hypnosis is mind control.” ... It's actually co-operation not control.

“Only certain people can be hypnotised.” ... Most people can, if they're willing.

“You can get stuck in hypnosis.” ... You always come out of it.

🪄 It’s not magic.

Like any therapy it works best when the person wants to participate.
