About Me

Who am I? ... Delyth Cole

I am Welsh born and bred, and with a name like Delyth how could I not be!
... The name embodies the mystical charm and grace associated with the rich Welsh Celtic tradition and mythology.
Apparently in English, Delyth means pretty and blessed - and I'd actually agree that I am pretty blessed!
💜 My blessings: I'm a proud mum of two girls and two boys (all adults now), and grandma to my 2 gorgeous granddaughters. I have been living with my partner on the beautiful Wirral Peninsular for the past 27 years.
I previously worked in IT for many years in the family business, a niche footwear retail environment... and when I was much younger I worked in primary schools in North Wales as a nursery nurse (TA these days), in my time I've also been an aerobics instructor, a waitress, a nanny ... and I've lived in both the Netherlands and the USA.
I've always had a fascination with the mind which is why I did my psychology degree, and while doing a dissertation on dyslexia ... I found out I was neurodivergent myself. I am dyscalculic ... the maths and number one, and later on I realised I'm actually Inattentive ADHD with it. And believe me, it answered so many questions and made a lot of sense.
A few years back, wanting a change from my work in IT, I was drawn back onto the psychological path and retrained in Counselling and in Hypnotherapy and now I'm happy to have my own private practice ...plus at my age I come with plenty of lived experience - good, bad and ugly!
As a more 'mature' woman, I'm post-menopausal, so I have a keen interest in this area and have done extra training, my own journey has not been a smooth sail, so I certainly do understand that it can be quite complex and there can be a fallout in all areas of your life, with home-life, relationships, social life and work.
It certainly can ripple out everywhere. ... there is also quite a bit of new research about hormones and ADHD, so there can be a double whammy with menopause and neurodivegence.
For my mental health I love reading, mindfulness meditation and have been known to enjoy the odd yoga and sound-bath session, however 🤷♀️ like most people I frequently need reminding to practice what I preach!!
... And my clients will tell you I'm always preaching about self care. It's so important.
My dynamic trio of self-care:
✧ self-awareness
✧ curiosity
✧ boundaries
💚 Suicide Awareness :
I am both Livingworks ASIST - a 'Gold Standard' Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - and Livingworks safeTALK trained.
I currently volunteer one day a week at 'The Jade L Roberts Project' in Liverpool, counselling adults 18+ who have found themselves in suicidal crisis, I've been there for just over 2 years now, and they all do amazing and inspiring work ... literally life-saving work!
They also run the Livingworks training classes for the Liverpool region - see their website below for further details. I highly recommend them.
The project currently runs on donations so if you are ever looking for a worthy cause to raise funds for ......
