My Core Qualifications
-
Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling
-
BSc (Hons) Psychology & IT
My integrative training allows me to draw on different therapeutic approaches, considering each person’s experiences, needs and circumstances rather than assuming one approach suits everyone.
Additional Professional Training
Alongside my core counselling qualifications, I’ve completed:
-
Level 4 Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy (Practitioner)
-
Level 5 Diploma in Drug & Alcohol Counselling
-
LivingWorks ASIST — Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
-
LivingWorks safeTALK — Suicide Awareness Training
These qualifications and training experiences have contributed to my understanding of emotional wellbeing, coping strategies, complex life experiences and the different challenges people may bring to therapy.
Couples Counselling & Relationship Training
I continue to develop my knowledge and skills in working with couples and relationship difficulties.
This includes progressing through training levels in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy through The Gottman Institute and in 'The Developmental Model" through The Couples Institute
My approach to couples counselling is also informed by my integrative therapeutic training, professional development and experience of exploring relationship dynamics.
Continuing Professional Development
Learning doesn’t stop once you qualify as a therapist.
I continue to engage in professional development to deepen my understanding of areas including:
-
Trauma and emotional wellbeing
-
Anxiety, stress and burnout
-
Neurodivergence and inclusive practice
-
Couples counselling and relationship dynamics
-
Mental health and suicide prevention
Ongoing learning helps me reflect on my practice, develop my skills and remain mindful of the different needs of the people I work with.
Professional Standards & Ethical Practice
As a registered BACP member, I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
My professional practice includes:
-
Regular clinical supervision
-
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
-
Professional indemnity insurance
-
Enhanced DBS check
-
Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) registration
-
A commitment to ethical, confidential and inclusive practice
These are important parts of maintaining a responsible and accountable therapy practice.
Voluntary & Community Work
Alongside Best Self Therapy, I’m a trustee and volunteer counsellor with the Jade L Roberts Project CIC in Liverpool.
My work with the project includes supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties and suicidal crisis. It’s a part of my professional life that I value and that continues to contribute to my experience and development as a counsellor.
